On this destination photography trip, we arrived in San Juan Puerto Rico and then travelled to Isla Culebra (Culebra Island). Geographically speaking, these islands are located in the caribbean in the Spanish Virgin Islands.
Perusing Old San Juan was like jumping in a time achine to the colonial days with beautiful vibrantly painted buildings, rich architecture with cobblestone roadways and the unique ambience and charisma of an old town. Not to mention, Le Perla, a neighborhood in San Juan rich is full of history and was the location where Luis Fonsi filmed the music video for his hit song, Despacito. A stroll through new San Juan offered all of the amenities of a modern city, to include restaurants, shops, cafes, fancy hotels and entertainment venues.Â
Culebra is an island located five miles off the coast of Puerto Rico, with white sandy beaches and was seemingly less visited than other beaches on mainland Puerto Rico. The beach, known as Flamenco Beach, has been rated one of the best beaches in the world by both Forbes and Trip Advisor. Unlike other beaches, this one offers something a bit unique, US military tanks that were left behind from the WWII era. The tanks were in a state of rust with some actually resting partially submerged below the crashing waves, which had been decorated with graffiti art.Â
